Wilt Chamberlain Voted Eastern Conference Center for 2012 All-Star Weekend

2012 All-Star

Indiana Pacers Center Roy Hibbert will be among several Eastern Conference centers to get snubbed from participating in the 2012 NBA All-Star. Due to an error on the ballot NBA fans voted in record numbers for the late Wilt Chamberlain as the starting center for the East squad. "We don't know exactly how Wilt Chamberlains name ended up on the ballots," explained Commissioner David Stern. "But the All-Star weekend is for the fans and they've chosen Mr. Chamberlain as their starter. I don't know exactly how we will handle the start of the game itself. We will likely have a moment of silence or have only one center jump at the opening tip in a missing man formation.

Fall to Ground in Disgust
In an effort to correct the situation 2nd place vote getter Dwight Howard will automatically be given the reserve center position for the Eastern Conference squad.  This move would eliminate Hibbert and other All-Star hopefuls like former Florida standouts Joakim Noah and Al Horford from consideration for the team. Hibbert learned of the All-Star snub mid game and was overcome with emotion even falling to the floor and screaming with anger.  He later was able to compose himself as he spoke with the press. "I shouldn't be so surprised, after all the voting is just one big popularity contest. I just have to take this in stride and use it as motivation."
